The Exchanged is an independent, online publication that was established during the 2016-2017 school year.
Our publication is by students, for students. It is a platform for students to express their ideas freely without the direct oversight from their respective school administration.
We cover a variety of subjects mainly centered around politics and student life in a variety of mediums, such as articles, podcasts, cartoons, and puzzles. We aim to publish biweekly.
We are a completely student-run publication. All of the editors, coordinators, writers, and contributors are high school students from the National Cathedral School and St. Albans School in NW Washington, D.C. However, none of the content that we publish represents the views of the staff of The Exchanged, the National Cathedral School, St. Albans School, the Protestant Episcopal Cathedral Foundation, not any employee thereof. Opinions written are those of the writer and the writer alone. The Exchanged aims to be just one stall of many in the free marketplace of ideas.
Hello, my name is Peter Donets, and I am this year’s activity coordinator. I am really excited to work in filling every issue of the magazine with thematic content and puzzles for our brightest readers. I have many hobbies, but right now I am only focused on two: attending the staff meetings for The Exchanged and looking for more artists and graphic creators to contribute to the subsequent issues. If you just skipped through my bio for whatever reason, just remember one thing: firstname.lastname@example.org. In other words, if you have anything at all that could be remotely relevant to the next issue, just email me and I will do the rest. Once again, email@example.com, and hope you already had the chance to enjoy some of my crosswords!
Hi, my name is Sasha Perkins and I’m a junior. I love the arts and journalism so, when I’m not doing ballet, my main hobbies include watching CNN, listening to podcasts and making tik toks. I’m so excited to contribute to The Exchanged this year!
Hi everyone! I’m Alyssa, the NCS Close Coordinator! This is my first year on The Exchanged, and I look forward to the year ahead of us! Outside of the newspaper, I play on the NCS volleyball team and do theatre.
Hello! I’m Shreyan Mitra, and I’m the STA Close Coordinator at The Exchanged. Though I spend the majority of the time I devote to creating the bi-weekly issue compiling events, so you know the “what’s” and “when’s” at school for the next two weeks, I’ll write a few words given the opportunity. I joined The Exchanged to have a firsthand experience of students’ points of view on the world and become a stronger writer. I spend time reading, exploring science, playing the violin, listening to music, composing, being a stickler for grammar, snapping pictures of sunsets, and (rarely) learning about planes. Feel free to reach out to me at firstname.lastname@example.org for questions, feedback, or quotes (love giving those)! Cheerio, all.
Hi! I’m David Donoghue, and I’m this year’s STA Editor-in-Chief. Madeline, Nisa, and I have been hard at work since the start of the summer to provide a refreshing, well-written, steady stream of content for you; and it’s going to be the best year yet. I’m excited to publish a diverse range of opinions on a wide variety of topics. In my free time, when I’m not Zooming into class, I’m probably on Zoom for a different reason, be it a rehearsal or office hours or a meeting for The Exchanged. If you have any questions, concerns, or are interested in writing for us, feel free to reach out! My email is email@example.com.
Welcome to The Exchanged! My name is Nisa Quarles, and I am a senior at NCS. Along with David and Madeline, I am one of the Editors-in-Chief this year. I have been a member of The Exchanged staff since my sophomore year. As a sophomore, I was a Content Editor, and in my junior year, I was a Deputy Editor. Beyond working on The Exchanged and dropping everything to Zoom with Madeline and David on what feels like a daily basis ;), I also enjoy spending time with my family, running, and listening to music. My goal for The Exchanged this year is to publish intriguing articles from a variety of voices on the Close. I hope you enjoy reading The Exchanged!
Hi everyone, my name is Madeline. I am one of the Editors-in-Chief this year. Last year, I was a politics editor and as an underclassman, I wrote articles for The Exchanged. Outside of texting Nisa and David constantly, my hobbies include finding the best flavors of seltzer water, watching Cuomo Prime Time, and applying to college. My goal for The Exchanged this year is to provide a platform for students to voice their opinions and engage as a community in thoughtful and honest conversations. I hope you enjoy!
Hi everyone, my name is Sophie Andersen! I’m a senior and I have been at NCS since 5th grade. Along with Will, I am one of the Objective Content Editors this year and have been a contributing writer in past years. When I am not editing articles, I enjoy walking my dog Tiger, watching SNL, and taking naps. I hope you guys enjoy reading and interacting with the publication this year!
